Hi All, Our new house in Cebu is well progressed but we have hit a hitch with windows and sliding doors as I am not happy with the quality of the suppliers the builder put forward. Does anyone have any (good/bad) experience using window and door suppliers? Would appreciate any good contacts in particular to get them to quote.! Originally we had planned aluminium framed windows and sliding glass doors, but I also see a lot of extruded PVC windows advertised here in Cebu.

Again any experience with the two types? Advantages disadvantages? I wanted safety (tempered) glass for the sliding door. The builder doesn't seem to know what this is! Solution he offered is same glass but thicker.!! Is there any local term or brand for safety glass?

My main concern is the sliding doors in case someone tries to walk through the glass. Lastly we wanted our window & sliding door glass to be tinted (like one way mirror). Again the builder samples just seem to be smoked/coloured glass rather than tinted. Anyone know of local supplier of proper tinted glass?

Hi Bushy, We have near finished building and used a mob called 'Cujed Glass Aluminium Supply' North Rd., Basak, Mandaue. Their salesman (Loretto, 6) was very helpful, called regularly on the site to ensure everything fitted properly etc. These people supplied and fitted our color-bond roof, facia, guttering, windows and shower screens.

We received excellent service from them without any problems and they were true to their quotes which were very reasonable. Don't know if they have the glass you want but they could be worth a call. (We are simply satisfied clients of this company and have no other interest). The only complaint I have about the aluminum sliding windows he used is that they appear to be single-pane, so the outside noises come through. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes you need to research the materials before you start work on a project, so you get what you want. Otherwise, he will go to his default suppliers (who may not have what you want).
