Navy provides some of its personnel with Common Access Cards, which allow them to remotely access resources on the Navy Marine Corps Intranet. CAC readers are installed on desktop PCs or laptops, and give the user the ability to authenticate their NMCI access credentials simply by typing in a PIN.
